Nukoko means smile in a local Togolese dialect. We believe that all human beings, but more specifically, all children have the right to smile at all times.

Nukoko is a registered, Canadian not-for-profit organization that works with local youth-run initiatives, with the hopes of ensuring equality and to contribute to the development and betterment of our world.

Women constitute the majority of the poor and the illiterate people living in urban and rural areas in Africa. As a result, many are pushed into sex work and face increased risks of HIV/AIDS infection. Nukoko is thus dedicated to helping girls reach their fullest potential through access to education: a key to ending the cycle of poverty and underdevelopment.

By collaborating with local youth, we are further encouraging them to develop their own country. Thus, we are giving them tools to get themselves out of poverty. This is really what sustainable development is all about. (Sustainable Development is a term that describes the responsible use of resources that help aid in development without compromising the environment and future generations.)
