Education 4 All: Education is essential
Nukoko’s goal is to increase access to primary education in developing countries such as Togo. Our Education 4 All project makes it happen! The project provides:
• school fees, school supplies and learning materials to hundreds of students;
• lessons for students on hygiene and life skills such as family planning;
• initiatives to supply healthy school lunches; and
• programs to inform parents on the importance of primary education.
Below are details on how you can take action with us!
Send a girl to school with our Education 4 All project
According to a 2006 survey, 66 percent of females in Togo are illiterate. You can help eliminate this statistic by sponsoring a girl’s education. Education contributes to the eradication of child trafficking and forced labour. Once a girl is educated, she is more likely to send her own children to school—helping to end one of the major cycles of poverty.
Cost: $30.00 CND per year
Each child receives:
• school fees paid for the entire school year; and
• school supplies such as textbooks, notebooks, pens, crayons, calculator and ruler. At the end of the school year, all school supplies will be donated back to the project for redistribution the following year. This re-use program makes sure your money goes as far as possible.
As a sponsor, you receive:
• project updates;
• status reports; and
• assurance that 100 percent of your donation goes where it should—to advancing education in Togo.
Project details
International organizations such as the United Nations agree that education is a fundamental, universal right. Nukoko’s Education 4 All project works towards achieving two of the Millennium Development Goals set out by the United Nations. These goals are to:
• achieve universal primary education; and
• promote gender equality and empower women.
By providing access to education, Education 4 All offers a long-term solution to poverty and ensures sustained development.
Our project works in areas where female school enrollment rates are lowest. By paying school fees and providing school supplies that many parents cannot afford, girls are encouraged to attend school and achieve academic success.
In 2012, Education 4 All will support children in and around the village of Namaré, located in the northwest of Togo. Your donation to a young girl will not only make a difference in her life— it will also contribute to a better global community.
About our project partner
Abroad, Education 4 All is managed by our partner, Le Réseau des Jeunes pour le Développement (REJED). REJED is a not-for-profit organization based in Lomé, Togo. It is run entirely by student volunteers, much like Nukoko. REJED’s members operate with the interest of developing their country from within.
By working with a local volunteer organization, Nukoko eliminates unnecessary overhead administration costs, and ensures that basic needs are met in a way that is best suited to the country’s traditions and cultural practices.
Below are annual reports and summaries for the Education 4 All program in previous years.
