Health Literacy

Good health contributes to a good education.

Poor health is a major factor that hinders children in developing nations from accessing education. To recognize this, Nukoko has begun its Health Literacy project.

The Health Literacy project hopes to empower girls to reach a substantial level of understanding and ownership over their own health and health choices. By introducing health literacy within their primary education curriculum, this project hopes not only to improve the health status of girls in the village of Namaré and their access to education, but also to instill the importance of health literacy as an agent of individual and social development.

The project is currently undergoing an assessment of the most effective tools and techniques to use, as well as an overall feasibility study on introducing health literacy within an established primary curriculum.
